The incredibly brilliant Michelle ( @smallinklings on Instagram) has painted a portrait of our little Lucy, depicting our cranky old lady as a saintly beast, Our Lady of Perpetual Hope, always trusting that a crumb of toast or a crispy bit of salmon skin or a rich pat of butter might fall into her mouth.

Sometimes it does! The power of Lucy compels us!

A vision robed in forget-me-nots and salvia and immortalized in watercolor stained glass, the actual Lucy gave her beatific doppelgänger a sniff and wagged her tail, and I guess that seems like a blessing as much as anything else.
